History of Sisler’s Ice Cream Sept. 29

On Thursday,Sept.29 at 6:30 p.m. Bill Sisler will talk about Sisler’s Ice Cream at the Princeton Public Library.  The evening will include details about the history of this family-owned business, advances in the process of producing ice cream, and best of all, samples of Sisler’s ice cream.

Sisler’s Dairy Products began in 1908 in Ohio, IL.  George Sisler ran a mail route and started making ice cream at night and selling it to some of his postal customers.  When word spread about how good his ice cream was, he decided to devote all his time to making and selling ice cream.  Two of his sons continued to grow the business, including producing and packaging ice to sell to restaurants and in stores.

The company has split into two separate locations, with Sisler’s Ice & Ice Cream in Ohio, IL and Sisler’s Ice in DeKalb, IL.  Both companies are now in their third generation of management using George’s philosophy of quality product and dependable service at a fair price.
