In an effort to improve the comfort level of patrons with special needs, the Princeton Public Library has created an in-house sensory kit. As a result of trustee and staff continuing education efforts, both groups agreed the addition of a sensory kit would be beneficial to improve the experience for those experiencing anxiety or restlessness.
The Sensory Kit is openly accessible on the youth services references desk. The kit currently includes a wobble cushion, weighted lap pad, activity pillow, noise-less headphones and a variety of fidget and sensory items. The library intends to add to the collection in accordance with patron feedback.
