Nature Center Activity/Makerspace Weeks

In addition to the programs above, each week of summer reading we will have materials available for a drop-in craft to make at the library. Some will be used to transform the Youth Services area into a fantasy Nature Center, and some can be taken home.

Week of June 20 • Green wall/Nature journal + a Bird Scavenger Hunt in the Library!
Week of June 27 • Green wall/Nature journal
Help us make a “living wall” map on the Youth Services wall and create a nature journal/scrapbook to record observations, sketches, or stories.

Week of July 4 • Creature diorama/Bead lanyards
Make a creature! We’ll have newspaper, wire, masking tape, and craft paint. Display your creature in the library!

Week of July 11 • Fossils/Fairy doors & Picture frames
Salt dough workshop. Make an impression, sculpt a trilobite or a dinosaur claw.
+ an Animal Activity Walk in the Library!

Week of July 18 • Herbarium/Friendship bracelets
Create a “pressed” plant or flower to preserve and display—we’ll laminate them and exhibit them in our Youth Services window.

Week of July 25 • Display your Nature Journal
Share your completed journal at the end of summer reading.
+ a Gnome Scavenger Hunt in the Library!
