Thursday, Aug 1 Happy Birthday, PPL! We are celebrating 17 years at our Peru Street location! Refreshments will be served throughout the day to thank the community for making this wonderful library a reality. In recognition of those who have made significant donations to the Princeton Public Library since 2007, the Princeton Public Library Board of Trustees has designated a separate donor wall, designed by Elise Swinford with plaques created by A&M Products. Library Board President Tony Bonucci will present the new donor wall at 11:00 am on Thursday, Aug 1.

Thursday, Aug 8, 6–7:30 pm Page Turners Book Club will discuss West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge. Part adventure, part historical saga, and part coming-of-age love story, West with Giraffes explores what it means to be changed by the grace of animals, the kindness of strangers, the passing of time, and a story told before it’s too late.
Saturday, Aug 10, 1 pm Bureau County History Center Presents Bureau County Congressmen Congressman Owen Lovejoy is a beloved figure in Princeton and Bureau County. But what about Bureau County’s other congressmen? Jim Dunn, president of the Bureau County History Center Board, will present the stories of four other congressmen with deep connections to Bureau County.
Attendees will learn about the congressman from Princeton who was called “The Father of the Hennepin Canal”; the congressman from Tiskilwa whom the opposing party helped to elect when they lost faith in their own incumbent; the congressman born in Ohio, Illinois, who voted to declare war on Germany during World War I; and the two-term congressman born in Dover whose son followed in his father’s footsteps by serving nearly a quarter of a century in Congress during the tumultuous 1940s and 1950s.

Carolyn will research the items and will discuss some of them at her 1:00 presentation (appraisals and items will be returned after the program).
