
Princeton Public Library held its quadrennial New Year’s Non-Event fundraiser and no one came (except some of our books)! What Is a Non-Event?
A non-event is an event that is never intended to happen, thus saving the inconvenience, time, and expense of hosting or attending a legitimate event.
Take for example
a formal New
Year’s Eve Auction Fundraiser:
$140: Two tickets to a swank, black-tie fundraiser.
$120: Tuxedo rental for him.
$180: Fabulous dress for her.
$110: Cost of impulsively raising your hand after the auctioneer said, “Do I hear $110?”
TOTAL $550: That is the total the library just saved you by not throwing a formal New Year’s Eve Auction fundraiser.
