Thursday, July 14, 6:30 pm Page Turners Book Club The book for discussion will be Monica Hesse’s historical YA novel The Girl in the Blue Coat. Patrons should call the library to reserve a copy of the book. Bring a book title and author that you would recommend to the group for future monthly selections. The Page Turners Book Club is open to all library card holders looking for their next great read!
Monday, July 11, 6:00 pm Virtual Program Invitation The LaSalle Public LIbrary will host a Zoom presentation with two NASA Solar System Ambassadors who will look back on the long and tumultuous journey of the James Webb Space Telescope, the most powerful telescope ever built, from concept to launch, its “30 days of terror,” and the science and discovery it promises to deliver, as we await the first images to be released on the 12th. Tuesday, July 12, 10:30–11:00 am Summer Reading Outdoor Storytime Miss Jacqui will read two stories and lead everyone in some scarf and action rhymes in the greenspace near the library. Bring sunscreen and something to sit on (lawn chair or blanket/beach towel). On Tuesday, July 19th, at 6:00 p.m. central, the LaSalle Public Library will virtually host NASA Solar System Ambassador and LaSalle resident, Scott Pellican, for a presentation commemorating John Glenn’s historic flight in 1962 where he became the first American to orbit Earth,
Scott will provide background on Glenn, how the political events of the time led to the flight, the flight itself, and the reaction and celebration of the nation afterwards. After the program, Scott will answer questions posed by the virtual audience. To register: https://bit.ly/3neoer
