Tuesday, Oct 4 PPL “Take and Make”—Stuffed Mushroom Craft The October “Take and Make” project is a whimsical woodland mushroom.  Gather your mushroom kit starting on Tuesday, October 4th, while supplies last. The kit will include instructions (including an example of Lisa’s alternate version, which is a mushroom gnome)and supplies to make a red and white mushroom. Then you can use materials that you might have at home to create your own version.

Tuesday, Oct 4, 6:00 pm Haunted History with Terry Lynch Mr. Lynch is a nationally recognized actor and history enthusiast with a wide following throughout the state. His one man interactive presentations give audiences a new, first person perspective on the people and events that make up our history and culture. During this program Mr. Lynch will explore the entertaining and chilling tales of the historical hauntings of the Midwest. Stories of the S.S. Eastland, Brookfield Zoo, Fort Dearborn Massacre, and John Dillinger (to name just a few) help to guarantee spooky goosebumps, while learning a bit of history at the same time!
This program is not intended for younger audiences. It is recommended for grade 6 to Adult.

Wednesday, Oct 5, 5:30–7:30 pm Chicks with Sticks Experienced and novice knitters and crocheters are welcome to join in this social crafting time.

Thursday, Oct 6, 5:30–7:30 pm Read Em and Weed Gardening Group This meeting will be discussing House Plants, different aspects of their care, and how to repot and prune large plants.  We will have plenty of time to go over questions you may have so come prepared and we can draw from the experience in the room to answer them.  All are welcome, if you like house plants, grow food, or just enjoy flowers…we have room for you.

Wednesday, Oct 12, 2022, 7-8 pm Illinois Libraries Present: A Conversation with Jesmyn Ward UPDATE 10/10/22 This program has been CANCELED due to a family health emergency. ILP will update us if a new date can be scheduled–probably Spring 202 —Two-time National Book Award winner Jesmyn Ward discusses how her literary vision and personal experiences address urgent questions about racism and social injustice.  This online event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Thursday, Oct 13, 6:30 pm Page Turners Book Club The club’s October selection will be The Silent Patient, a New York Times-best-selling psychological thriller by Alex Michaelides. Patrons should call the library to reserve a copy of the book.  Bring a book title and author that you would recommend to the group for future monthly selections.  The Page Turners Book Club is open to all library card holders looking for their next great read!

Bring a non-member and be entered into a drawing for gift certificates to the Friends of the Library used book sale.

“What We Hunt in the Shadows” Vampire Escape Room — Friday, Oct 28, 10:00 am–7:00 pm; Saturday, Oct 29, 10:00 am –2:00 pm Looking for a spooky (but not-too-spooky) family or group activity for Halloween? The Princeton Public Library will be hosting “What We Hunt in the Shadows,” an escape room set in a vampire hunter’s study—where participants will solve riddles to find and unlock clues in order to defeat an evil vampire before they, too, become its victims!

The escape room will take place in the library’s Matson Meeting Room. Slots start on the hour with 45 minutes to find and destroy the vampire. Although this is a family-friendly event, puzzles will be best solved by 3^rd grade and up, though younger siblings are welcome. We recommend groups of up to 6.
