Tuesday, June 4, 7 pm Illinois Libraries Present The Hidden Gifts of Visual Thinkers with Dr. Temple Grandin (Zoom Presentation) Join us for a special event with Dr. Grandin, one of the world’s most accomplished and well-known adults with autism. Dr. Grandin has been at the forefront of research and activism for autism and neurodiversity for decades. Her most recent book is Visual Thinking: The Hidden Gifts of People Who Think in Pictures, Patterns, and Abstractions. Register Here Those who register will receive a link to the recorded presentation; it will also be available on the ILP YouTube channel for 14 days after the post date.

Wednesday, June 5, 5:30 pm Chicks with Sticks… and Roosters Too! (Knitting and Crochet Group) Experienced and novice knitters and crocheters are welcome to join in this social crafting time.

Thursday, June 6, 5:30 pm PPL Gardening Group All levels of gardener are welcome. This month, we’ll be hosting special guest Ellen Starr, retired biologist and pollinator habitat advocate, formerly of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Services. Ellen is in charger of the beautiful pollinator garden just east of the library, and also manages many gardens locally.

The Teen/Adult Summer Reading Program will be counting books read; pick up your reading passport at the Circulation Desk.

Thursday, June 13, 6–7:30 pm Page Turners Book Club will discuss Go As a River by Shelley Read. Historical fiction set in Iola, Colorado.

Tuesday, June 18, 12:30 pm Incredible Bats (Summer Reading)—Animals from Around the World Sharon and Dan Peterson have been promoting bat education in the Midwest since 1996. Their goal as bat educators is to inform people about the many benefits of bats. But they enjoy all different kinds of animals, not just bats, and their presentation will include animals from across the globe.

Thursday, June 20, 10:30 am Summer Reading Youth/Teen Craft: Stuffie Taxidermy A teddy bear is pretty great, but what if it had a unicorn horn? Or octopus tentacles? It’s time to experiment! Come on into the library as we cut, sew, and glue our stuffed animals into new, fascinating creations!

Friday, June 21, 4 pm Fraud & Counterfeit Prevention Presentation Learn about counterfeit bills, how to determine if they are real or fake, and how to properly dispose of them, presented by Midland States Bank.

Tuesday, June 25, 5–7 pm Adult Coloring Night Coloring pages will be available or bring your own. Library will also have bookmarks to color that we can laminate at your cost.
