We will have a few envelopes available to share. If you don’t have any seeds to share we have plenty so please come and get some seeds for your garden.

Apr 6–May 10 2025 Illinois Valley Library Vacation Road Trip! Take an Illinois Valley road trip this spring! Visit our library neighbors and see what unique collections they offer, and the different services available.
Visit the circulation desk at each library to collect a stamp on your passport. Collect stamps, then turn in your passport at your home library for entry into a drawing for a prize!

Apr 7–25 Community Book Art Show How did our community artists rise to the challenge to create art from a discarded book? Book art will be on display at the library through April 25, with a Closing Reception for artists and the community from 5–7 pm on Friday, April 25.

Thursday, Apr 10, 7–8 pm Illinois Libraries Present The Art of Foraging with Alexis Nikole Nelson Celebrate Earth Month with Black Forager, Alexis Nikole Nelson. A forager, outdoor educator, chef, and influencer based in Ohio, Nelson uses her platforms to yell, sing and celebrate all the edible plants hiding in plain sight. Through her search for freely accessible edible plants, she peels back historical layers on African American and Indigenous food traditions that have traditionally been repressed and empowers those living in food deserts with greater self- sufficiency. Tuesday, Apr 22, 6 pm Wild Boar to Baconfest: Pigs in History and Popular Culture, presented by Cynthia Clampitt In this lecture, Cynthia Clampitt presents the history of pigs and pork to examine the impact these animals had worldwide. Clampitt will focus on the Midwest, including why poet Carl Sandburg would call Chicago “Hog Butcher for the World.” This event is co-presented by the Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau.

Thursday, Apr 24, 5:30–7 pm Tamara Gaumond, “100 Things To Do in Door County Before You Die.” Wisconsin’s Door County is often called the “Cape Cod of the Midwest.” Author Tamara Gaumond is a content strategist/writer for a Chicago-based engineering firm. She considers Door County to be her second home and will offer insider tips from her new book for the first time and seasoned traveler. Copies of her book will be available for purchase at this event.

Friday, Apr 25, 5–7 pm Community Book Art Show Closing Reception To celebrate National Library Week (April 6–12, 2025), Princeton Public Library will host a community art display of “book art”–that is, mixed media art on the cover of a discarded book–during the month of April. The library is offering discarded hardcover books for your canvas. You can pick up a used book cover from those in a designated box between Monday March 24 and Friday April 4 to use as your “canvas” at home. Drop off your finished artwork by April 5^th and we will display it for 3 weeks. Patrons and community members may also work on their book “canvas” at the library on Saturday, April 5, with art supplies available for your use at that time.

Saturday, Apr 26, 10 am–2:30 pm Craft Supply Swap Help us clean out the library’s arts & crafts supply cupboards! We’ll put out what we have in excess as a craft supply swap and you are invited to bring any craft materials you would like to recycle and take what inspires you for new projects. After Saturday, 4/26, we’ll have a table in the Main Circulation area so patrons may continue to collect supplies through May 2.
