Illinois Valley Library Road Trip 2026 — April 1-30

Have you wished you could head off on an adventure to discover history and treasure. Do movies like Indiana Jones, The DaVinci Code, and National Treasure make you eager to strike out for the unknown, map in hand? With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year, there’s no better time to get on the road and learn what makes our part of the US special and unique, starting at your local library. For the month of April, twenty-six libraries across LaSalle, Bureau, and Putnam counties are participating in the third annual Illinois Valley Library Road Trip.

To start your quest, visit your home library, pick up a map and passport, and hit the road! Once you get to another library, have your passport stamped at the circulation desk, and take a look around! Every library has a specialty collection, and we’d love for everyone to see and experience all Illinois Valley libraries. Have your passport stamped at as many libraries as you are able to visit and return to your home library to turn in your passport. Your passport and stamps will get you a chance to win a prize from your home library.

The road trip will run from Wednesday, April 1, to Thursday, April 30. Not all libraries have the same hours or rules, so we encourage you to call or visit their website or Facebook page before heading out for your day’s trip.

Did you know you can use your library card at all area libraries? If a library doesn’t have what you’re looking for, another local library may, or we can order it from other libraries.
